DestinyOne Becomes Citizen of the Day

Congratulations goes out to DestinyOne, who has become another one of Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day! This is a great accomplishment, DestinyOne has lived in Tehran for ten years, she finally was able to leave the country. She is the first Iranian to become Citizen of the Day. Remember, if you see Ms. DestinyOne, (not to be confused with DestinyTwo), tell her how proud you are of her recent accomplishment.

AMForte Clarity: Citizen of the Day

Let's give it up for AMForte Clarity, Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day! I wrote this post yesterday and I forgot to include a link to AMForte's site. Well, I tried to insert it and it messed the whole blog post up. So, I decided not to include the usual bullshit, but I chose to still acknowledge her on this blog. So AMForte, Congratulations, once again you have made it on Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day honor roll.

Here is the link to AM Forte's webpage, amforte.com

She is a really talented SL performer (SL is Second Life of course) Great Guitar playing and Great Singing!

Myl Foxdale: Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day

Congratulations to Myl Foxdale. This Dutch sweetie has just been named Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day! This is the first time that a woman from the Netherlands was named Citizen of the Day.
Now, it should be noted that Myl does not live in a windmill. Miss Foxdale does not wear wooden shoes, and she may or may not like tulips, (which tulips were originally native to present-day Turkey.) Though, it would be interesting to know if Myl frequents the hash bars in Amsterdam; On this day, let us not be culturally insensitive to the new Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day. Once Again, Congratulations to Myl! Remember, if you see Myl out and about, tell her that you have heard the good news. (Also, ask her if she can please send some Maui Wowi to the following address:)

Once again, We are so proud of you Myl!

Wild Teardrop: Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day

I was walking through the welcome area this beautiful night, when I laid eyes on this lovely who was wearing plaid. Therefore, Wild Teardrop becomes Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day. This is one of the web's highest honors. If you see Ms Wild, remember to congratulate her!

Plaidmania Formally Recognizes Filettino

The small town of Filettino has declared independence from Italy. Therefore, it is important to recognize this new principality. Though, it is sad that because of the terrible Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi having declared austerity that he would merge these small towns together. So I don this T-Shirt in support of this nascent principality.

Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee

Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day

I would not be typing this congratulatory blog post if it hadn't been for Sir Tim Berners-Lee. After all, it is thanks to him that we have the Internet which is 20 years old. Sir Tim Berners-Lee also is a proponent of network neutrality. He has been named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Important People of the 20th Century. On June 13, 2007 (St. Anthony's Feast Day, it just amazes me how this all connects on this blog), he received the Order of Merit, becoming one of only 24 living members entitled to hold the honour, and to use the post-nominals 'O.M.' after their name.
Now all those awards were something, but as the readers of this blog can attest, they do not even come close to being awarded Citizen of the Day. Plus, to top it all off, I found this picture of Berners-Lee wearing what else? A plaid shirt. Not only is this distinguished gentlemen an innovator, he is a man of impeccable taste. If you see Sir Berners-Lee, tell him, "Hey, I heard you are Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day! Congratulations!" Also tell him how thankful you are for the invention of the Internet.

Plaidmania's Movie of the Millenium: Source Code

After seeing the movie, the Source Code has been released on DVD, I have got to declare that this is definitely a movie that has got to be seen.
A few months ago, I wanted to see the Source Code in the theater, but for some reason or another I did not. However, after watching it on DVD, I was amazed how great of a movie it was. I expected it to be similar to the Matrix and Inception. I was surprised how it felt like Groundhog Day. I do not want to tell you what the movie is about, (there are plenty of sites that will tell you.) It's just that I, Pie Francois, highly suggest that you go and buy this movie as soon as possible.

Maybe Lunasea: Citizen of the YEAR

Congratulations Ms Maybe Lunasea! You have been nagging me for weeks, and months to be Citizen of the Day. Well, guess what? You will receive an honor that has not yet been bestowed on an avatar. Let the trumpets proclaim that Maybe Lunasea has been named Plaidmania's Citizen of the Year! Not only did she receive the highest honor of plaid, she also was given the medal of the Plaidistan High Order of the Plaid in a private ceremony. Well, Maybe it doesn't get much better than this (yeah it probably does, but I am really tired.)

The John Locke and Amanda Hocking Phenomenon

I'm not quite ready to name them Citizen of the Day (because of envy.) However, I have been both inspired and intrigued with their recent successes. If you have not heard of these two names, they are both authors of best-selling books. They are not only authors but they are self-published authors. Last night, I read all about John Locke's success. John sells his books for $0.99(USD) and of that he makes $0.35. He has over 1,000,000 books. I hope that you find some inspiration from this post tonight. Just for reference I am providing hyperlinks to their respective sites.
Hey! Let's write a book now!

Citizen of the Day: The Solo Cup

Plaidmania proudly bestows the honor of Citizen of the Day to none other than the Solo Cup.
Solo Cup, you are always at the party. You have always been there for me when I needed you the most. Only you can make Natty Light taste good when you contain it. Therefore, let it be declared in the States and the and the Kingdoms as well as in the Metaverse, that you are Citizen of the Day. (I will see you tomorrow night at the keg party.)

MoShang: Citizen of the Day

I really wanted to listen to some music tonight, and there was this really intriguing description that stated the following, "MoShang is a sound jeweler living in Taiwan. He collects rough audio diamonds from the streets of Taiwan (be they overheard conversations, street-ads blared from the ubiquitous blue-trucks, street processions or funeral chants) and fuses them with traditional Chinese instruments http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifand laid-back beats to create a unique blend of downtempo electronica he likes to call Chinese Chill.

MoShang has released 4 full-length albums and an EP commercially - his latest, Further East (2010), is now available from iTunes and other online retailers.

In SL, MoShang performs live on a WX-5 midi windcontroller (electronic sax), lending a jazzy air to his all-original downtempo live-mixes. He shares one of his SL performances per week as part of his MoShang Live Online podcast.

http://moshang.net"

So I go to the virtual concert which was hosted at Starport Omega, awesome place by the way. One of the most interesting musician that I have listened to in a long time.

It was no question that I just had to make MoShang Plaidmania's Citizen of the Day. Congratulations!

St Anthony Could Have Been Citizen Back in the Day

Saint Anthony of Padua (actually he was from Lisbon, Portugal) is Plaidmania's Saint of the day! I know what some of you are thinking to yourselves, "Come on Pie, don't play around with this!" But allow me to retort, I figured that June 13th is the Feast Day and it would be most appropriate to make him Saint of the Day. He is the patron saint of lost items and I have prayed to Saint Anthony many times when I had lost my television's remote control or had misplaced the keys to the car. Therefore, I feel St. Anthony should be honored by Plaidmania. So, if you lose an item today (I hope you don't) you can pray to St. Anthony and say, "Hey, congratulations! You are Plaidmania's Citizen mmm... I mean Saint of the Day!"
